Enjoy Arizona Weather: Build a Gazebo

Backyard gazebo with patio se

Wooden deck with railings and gazebo with fire pit and chairs

The highs for this week are all around 90 degrees with lows getting down to the 60’s and it’s only getting better. Now is the time to make a beautiful addition to your home. But what will that next thing to increase your home’s value be? We think a gazebo in your backyard would be an awesome idea.

Types of Gazebos

Gazebos come in all shapes, materials, cost, sizes and designs. Materials typically consist of wood, vinyl, and aluminum. The shape of a gazebo is very diverse. You may see anything like an octagon, square, rectangle, oval, hexagon, octagon, decagon, and even a dodecagon. Obviously if you have your gazebo custom built in come in just about any shape you would like.

There are also different types of structures which aren’t technically all gazebos. There are gazebos, pergolas, and pavilions. A gazebo has a roof and full or partial walls. A pergola is a bit different. The roof is not solid and instead has beams with gaps in them. They are often considered walkways but can act as a sitting or dining area. The sides are normally open. Most of them are made of wood. A pavilion is kind of a cross between the two, it has a solid roof but no walls.

The Cost of a Gazebo

Gazebo kits range from the low end at about $500 to over $40,000 depending on size and quality. Going custom will most likely increase your costs.

Where Do I Place My Gazebo?

The location of your gazebo will depend on your home. Popular places are on your patio, in a grassy area, next to your pool, in your garden, on a dock of some kind, or if you’re located near one, the beach.

What Else Can I Do?

Some other cool ways to incorporate a gazebo would be to place your hot tub in the center, add some patio furniture or dining table, or maybe throw in a fire pit or fireplace. All of these things would be an awesome way to get people outside in the beautiful Arizona weather.
