With new technology in computers, phones, etc. also comes new inventions in the home improvement aisle. If you are thinking about a remodel these tools would be a great help to that DIY project even if it’s a room addition project. Check out some of our favorite tools for 2016.
Home Improvement 2016
Worx Switchdriver Smart Cordless Drill
With two spring-loaded ¼-inch chucks, one for a drill bit the other for a drive bit, the switchdriver is a great new product. You can click in whatever hex shaped bit that will do the job, drill your hole, then simply switch to the next bit and drive it in. It’s a brilliant way to accomplish this two part task.
Klein Adjustable Screwdriver
The Klein Adjustable Screwdriver is great new twist on a traditional screwdriver. It has a unique locking collar that you can pull down with your thumb and pull the hex-shaped screwdriver shaft forward or backward to adjust length. This is helpful if you are in a tight spot and need a smaller shaft. It adjusts between four and eight inches. The shaft is also double-ended, meaning one end has a No. 2 Phillips head and the other has a ¼-in.-wide straight head. This screwdriver is an all around useful new tool.
Craftsman Extreme Grip Socket
This socket platform designed by Craftsman is a great new tool. It has moveable jaws that actually close around and tighten in on the fastener’s circumference. This is how it gets grip on rounded fasteners. A five-piece set will cost you about $40 and includes 7/16 in., ½ in., 9/16 in., ⅝ in., and an 11/16 in. socket sizes. It may sound like a lot for not a lot of product but this five set takes the place of a 10-piece set because of the way it functions.
Sharpdraw Mechanical Pencil
Speedtac’s design of this awesome mechanical pencil is a great alternative to the traditional carpenter’s pencil. The Sharpdraw works the same as a 9 mm utility knife. Use the thumb latch on the pencil’s back to feed a fresh piece of No. 2 HB lead to the metal tip. As the lead wears away you can then feed more lead forward. Just like a regular mechanical pencil, if the tip snaps off just click and sharpen to a nice point. This tool will save you sharpening time and its pocket clip will help you keep track of it.
Gearwrench Multi-Function Ratchet
This multi-function ratchet by Gearwrench is an awesome new tool. It’s design takes a smart idea, a double-ended ratchet, and adds two articulating heads that both lock into seven different positions with the flip of a lever. Combine that with the very narrow head geometry and an arc swing of five degrees and you have got yourself a tool that can tighten or loosen just about anything.
