How to Build the Ultimate Haunted House

Ultimate Haunted House

Fix My House loves a good scare every now and then. You wouldn’t believe the frightening houses that we’ve seen in our day. They may not have ghosts or zombies, but they sure do have their share of squeaky floors and creaky doors. Since we have great knowledge on houses and how to fix them, we thought we would give you all some advice on how to build the ultimate haunted house.

Haunted House Time!

Step 1

If you are going to build a haunted house there are a few steps you will want to take. The first thing you will want to do is find a great lot to build on. Now since this place is going to be ‘haunted’ we recommend something like a place where an insane asylum used to be located. These types of places make for great chances of left over unrested dead who would love to haunt your house.

Step 2

This next step is very important as well. If you are going to scare anyone at all, you will have to have a scary exterior. It’s all about presentation in these types of entertainment so, having a broken window or two assumes that the house is run down and old. Who knows who might have been in there and what has happened inside. We also recommend signs on the road leading up to the house that say something like, “Enter at your own risk” in some sort of frightening font. These types of things get people worked up and worried about what is to come.

Step 3

This is where things get a little more fun. Now it’s time to spice up the interior a bit. Loosening a few floor boards to make the house sound scary is a great step to take. You can also place objects in the darkness around the house that might look like a scary person with a knife to get them wondering. We recommend theming each room like it belonged to someone at some point. Things like little Sarah’s room who died in the house by herself because her foster parents left her for dead. Terrible story, but that is what gets people emotionally charged and therefore more vulnerable to scare.

Step 4

The last step of the process and maybe the most important of the bunch. Leave room for assumption. Never give someone full reason to believe a certain story that you have placed for them to find. The best part about a haunted house is that you never really know what has happened. It is what keeps people coming back for more. If you can create a storyline that never actually ends, you have created a haunted house that will last for decades.
