Does your kitchen look like it’s from the 80’s? Are your appliances a sort of puke green color? If either of these things are true, it might be time to consider investing in kitchen remodeling. Fix My House knows all about the kitchen and exactly what’s “in” these days. If you don’t want to spend a bunch of time researching what’s cool in the kitchen, just give the remodeling gurus a call. In the meantime, here are 5 signs you should invest in kitchen remodeling.
Think back about 30 years ago. Do you remember the same appliances you have in your kitchen now? A lot has happened in those 3 decades… like the internet and you know, computers. Microchips have made their way into our, now called, smart appliances and allow us to add new features to our kitchens. These new appliances are much more energy efficient and have many more functions than the older ones. It is hard to find a refrigerator these days that doesn’t come with filtered water. All that to say, it may be time to update those appliances.
Back in the day oak or oak veneer and white laminate cabinets with oak trim sustained most kitchens. Those types of finishes wear down. Hinges and hardware also wear down but if cabinets are in good shape, try giving them a fresh coat of paint. You may want to contact an expert before painting however. Some cabinets should not be painted. If paint won’t do the trick and your shelves are bowed, gliders are off drawers, doors are warped, and cupboards beyond repair, it may be time to remodel.
If your kitchen is only big enough for one cook, it may be time to consider a remodel. These days, couples are into cooking together. Kitchens are now a place where people gather and converse. Many formal dining rooms have been converted into an extension of the kitchen to give it a more open look. It gives families a way to dine informally by themselves or more formally with guests.
Today’s kitchens are centered around their functionality. They are much easier to maintain and they make it easier to cook. You’ll see changes like countertops changing from ceramic tile to granite because they’re easier to clean. You’ll notice that composite sinks are replacing stainless steel.Thankfully, LED and halogen bulbs are replacing those awful fluorescent lights. And finally wood flooring is replacing the traditional linoleum of the 80’s. A majority of these things are happening because they are simply easier to maintain.
